Things not to say to a beginning driver.

  • Follow them! [referring to pedestrians, animals, or cars going in the opposite direction]
  • [gasp]
  • Eh, nobody does that. [referring to a traffic law]
  • Do you know how close you just got to that car/tree/person/etc?!?!?
  • Look over there!
  • Well, at least you didn't hit anything...
  • A few more months of practice and you'll be good!

my parents seem to like using misleading words whenever they want to say anything to me while I'm driving. Imagine trying to merge lanes only to hear your dad yell "STOP" (when he only wants to say you're going too fast).

Or when they yell stop in the middle of an intersection.

Although overconfidence is almost as bad. Today my dad made me *try* to park next to a porsche. Talk about pressure.

Hey, at least you're hearing stuff like "Nobody does that"
My parents are strict about every traffic law ever conceived. Driving with them, you'd think that going 56mph in a 55mph zone is a capital offense.
